Taiwanese actor Barbie Hsu tragically passed away at 48 due to pneumonia. Her sister Dee Hsu confirmed the news to local media on Monday. Barbie, wife of renowned South Korean singer and DJ Koo Jun Yup, succumbed to the illness during a family trip to Japan over the Lunar New Year holiday.

Speaking to the media, Dee shared, “During the Lunar New Year, our family came to Japan for vacation. My dearest sister, Barbie, has unfortunately left us after getting pneumonia triggered by influenza.”
Korean media outlet Ilgnan Sports reported that Koo Jun Yup confirmed the heartbreaking news, stating, “It is not fake news.” Devastated, he added, “I am not okay.”

Barbie and Koo Jun Yup married in 2022 after meeting at a concert in Taiwan. She was previously married to Chinese entrepreneur Wang Xiaofei for 11 years before their divorce in 2021. Barbie is survived by two children.
